At 2:30 on a Thursday in September 2024, the smoke detector beeping in the hallway started that low-battery chirp. You know the one. It's not loud enough to locate, but loud enough to make you lose your place. I was losing my place in a quarterly PPE inspection.

No harness can guarantee that a fall won't happen. Gravity doesn't care about your training or your brand. But the right equipment, inspected with a consistent routine, gives you a fighting chance.
So if your smoke detector is beeping, fix the battery. If a dog is digging under your fence, deal with it before it becomes a bigger problem. And if you have a lanyard that's been through a rough season, take the extra few minutes to look at it properly.
That cut lanyard cost $42 to replace. The fall it could have allowed is not something I want to price out.
